The Trailer is Out There!

David’s old and balding. X_x And Gillian’s long hair makes her look older. It’s better than her Seasons 1 & 2 hair though, but they should have just gone short ala Season 5, her best hair in the series. (See Scully’s hair evolution, and Mulder’s too.)

I think I see a kiss about to happen. Had this been at the height of my Mulder-Scully “shipper”-ness, I would have squealed, and had a seizure fit, and hyperventilated til I became alkalotic. That was how Jody and I were on Monday nights, after a shipper-y X-Files episode (e.g. The Post-Modern Prometheus, Triangle, Memento Mori). This was back in college, several years ago, and I have since then moved on to Korean dramas for my source of *kilig* (and to younger, hotter leading men, with a fuller head of hair). =p But Mulder & Scully will always be the first couple I “shipped” on, and for that alone, I look forward to their big screen reunion.

The Good, The Bad and The Weird

Filed under: Surfing the Korean Wave — aggiepie @ 11:00 pm

The Good: Ticked off the first 3 items on my “To Do” list. Bought a cute (merthiolate) pink polka-dot dress on sale.

The Bad: Procrastination–have yet to accomplish the last 4 items on my “To Do” list. Asthma attacks and allergic rhinitis.

The Weird: Me! I’m the biggest weirdo you’ll ever meet–even I can’t figure myself out! @_@

But this one’s all good, good, good! Thanks Phoebs! :)

Thank You Episode 9

Filed under: Surfing the Korean Wave — aggiepie @ 7:39 pm

I think one of the reasons why “Thank You” is so emotionally difficult for me to watch is because of the issues Min Gi Seo have about losing patients despite his best efforts, as well as quack doctor Rico’s feelings of ineptness. ^_^;;

I’m now on Episode 9 but things are getting to be more interesting now that Bom’s secret is out. Thanks but NO thanks to Grandpa who continues to thrive in his own little fantasy world, oblivious to the trouble he has caused Young Shin and Bom. Now, I am not an agist; I’ve actually got elderly and even demented patients who are cute and endearing. But not Mr. Lee! He’s such an inconvenience! I hoped he was lost for good when he ran away, but Young Shin and Bom found him! I thought I was never gonna see him after falling off the bridge, but Seok Hyun rescued him. And then Min Gi Seo had to successfully perform CPR after V-tach. Lexi hints he’ll die in the end, so I’ll just wait for that.

Whiny nurse has redeemed herself when she defended Young Shin and took the beating from the angry villagers. Quakie Rico has also improved and is more confident now. I don’t care about balding Mr. Park and his aplastic anemia–his karma for his falsely accusing Min Gi Seo of murder! There’s still a lot of Seok Hyun and his mother, and they have the last 7 episodes to prove themselves. But Eun Hee (Seok Hyun’s girlfriend) is nice, and I never really disliked her even when she lied about her pregnancy.

Screen caps from this episode which had me laughing so hard.

Lol! Bom’s reaction is priceless! :) Whatchasay Lex?!

Thank You

Filed under: Residency Training, Surfing the Korean Wave — aggiepie @ 10:46 pm

While the others are in Malarayat for a convention (and golf and overnight swimming afterwards), Natz and I are holding the fort–she’s SNOD and I’m Pay ROD tonight. Felt bad initially about not being able to go, but thought it was the trade-off for watching Lea Salonga. And anyway, I realized I have a lot of things to do over the weekend:

  • LU report ^_^;;
  • CMC report
  • EMG-NCV reports
  • ICAS poster
  • Passport pics
  • Adams Chapter 5
  • Laundry

On the side, I’m watching “Thank You” (고맙습니다) starring Gong Hyo Jin and a post-military service Jang Hyuk. Don’t know if I’m busy with other things, or if I’m losing my Hallyu touch, but I’m still on Episode 8 and somehow I’m not so “can’t-wait-for-the-next-episode” excited about it (though it’s not as boring as “What Happened in Bali” but which I watched til the very end, nor a total drag like “Sad Sonata” which not even the love of Sang Woo sustained me past episode 2). I dislike the demented Grandpa, the loud-mouthed ahjumma mother of Seok Hyun, the quack doctor and his whiny nurse, the balding ahjussi who has a crush on Young Shin… And neither Seok Hyun nor Min Gi Seo (despite Lex’s adulations) pique my interest (so shoot me now Jang Hyuk fans!). I’m only watching it for Young Shin and Bom who’s the cutest and smartest Korean child actor (sorry Bori). But I’ll be reserving final judgment until I have watched the entire drama, for I am only halfway, and who knows if those above characters will redeem themselves in the latter half.

Handwriting analysis

Filed under: Surveys and Stuff — aggiepie @ 5:20 am

It’s freaky when things like these turn out to be more revealing than you give them credit for… I have set in pink those which I think apply to me.

Check out The Handwriting Wizard.

Welcome Aggie Pie, here is your handwriting analysis.

Aggie is a very emotional person with a broad range of emotions from the highest highs to the lowest lows. She feels emotional situations very strongly. She’ll flash to the very peaks of elation, sweeping everything before her. Then, for some reason unknown to herself, she will burn out emotionally. These mood swings can be very disturbing to her. Sometimes, she feels that she can no longer produce anything. But, after given some time alone to “recharge her emotional batteries”, she will spring back into action.

Because Aggie feels situations intensely, she relates easily to others’ problems. If she is not careful, when she comes into contact with someone who is in a depressed frame of mind, she will also suffer the same emotions and change moods. Aggie reacts impulsively, without much thought before hand. She may plan everything in detail before she even begins, then do it completely different when the time comes to carry it through.

Aggie has a strong need for affection. She thrives on touching and being touched. Aggie desires being told that she is loved, every day. She enjoys being the center of attention. She loves attention, sometimes she even retells stories that got her attention earlier.

Aggie has the possibility of being a actor or natural born salesperson, simply because she relates so well to other people. She likes expressing how she feels, what she is doing, and what she plans to do. She is a people person.

She will work most efficiently in a people orientated job as opposed to a job working alone on an assembly line (that would drive her insane.)

People that write their letters in an average height and average size are moderate in their ability to interact socially. According to the data input, Aggie doesn’t write too large or too small, indicating a balanced ability to be social and interact with others.

Aggie will be candid and direct when expressing her opinion. She will tell them what she thinks if they ask for it, whether they like it or not. So, if they don’t really want her opinion, don’t ask for it!

Aggie has a desire for attention. People around Aggie will notice this need. She may fulfill this need by a variety of ways depending on her own character.

In reference to Aggie’s mental abilities, she has a very investigating and creating mind. She investigates projects rapidly because she is curious about many things. She gets involved in many projects that seem good at the beginning, but she soon must slow down and look at all the angles. She probably gets too many things going at once. When Aggie slows down, then she becomes more creative than before. Since it takes time to be creative, she must slow down to do it. She then decides what projects she has time to finish. Thus she finishes at a slower pace than when she started the project.

She has the best of two kinds of minds. One is the quick investigating mind. The other is the creative mind. Her mind thinks quick and rapidly in the investigative mode. She can learn quicker, investigate more, and think faster. Aggie can then switch into her low gear. When she is in the slower mode, she can be creative, remember longer and stack facts in a logical manner. She is more logical this way and can climb mental mountains with a much better grip.

Aggie is capable of seeing far into the future. She plans two, three, even ten years in advance. Aggie has high goals and can literally see them being reached. She is very self-confident and has a high self-esteem. Aggie will reach whatever level of success she desires.

Aggie has the self-concept that is possessed by less than two percent of the population. That two percent contains the most successful people in the world. When a person has a high self-esteem, she frees herself to achieve an unlimited world of success. Aggie has achieved this frame of mind. Congratulations. She has the self-confidence to take great risk, thus reaping the rewards. If she does fail, it doesn’t break her confidence. She knows she can do it! In retrospect of our research, this trait is one of the most desirable to possess, because it releases the writer to achieve her full potential. We recommend everyone raise their self-esteem to this level.

Aggie is sarcastic. This is a defense mechanism designed to protect her ego when she feels hurt. She pokes people harder than she gets poked. These sarcastic remarks can be very funny. They can also be harsh, bitter, and caustic at the same time.

Aggie has a healthy imagination and displays a fair amount of trust. She lets new people into her circle of friends. She uses her imagination to understand new ideas, things and people.

For a graphologist, the spacing on the page reflects the writer’s attitude toward their own world and relationship to things in his or her own space. If the inputted data was correct Aggie has left lots of white space on the left side of the paper. Aggie fills up the rest of the page in a normal fashion. If this is true, then Aggie has a healthy relationship to the past and is ready to move on. The right side of the page represents the future and Aggie is ready and willing to get started living now and planning for the future. Aggie would like to leave the past behind and move on.

Interestingly, the lateral medullary (Wallenberg) syndrome is my favorite of the stroke syndromes! =p It was the first case I encountered on my first day in Pay (I was pulled out from Charity to fill in for Noynoy’s vacated post.) Not knowing any better then, I thought it was an infarct in the MCA territory. X_X On my 4th month, I encountered a similar case and this time was able to localize the lesion. And I was just too happy when my consultant wrote: “I agree with the diagnosis. Do carry out her orders.” Ü

Chuka!

Filed under: Uncategorized — aggiepie @ 8:26 pm

I was starting to get disheartened over not hearing from the ICAS organizers, especially since Sir Jessie already got his acceptance letter last week. I thought I’d give it one last shot and emailed them last night. And this morning, I got this reply from Dr. J Kim:

“Please kindly see the email below that was sent on April 29th.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to inform you that your abstract has been accepted for the Poster Presentation at the 3rd International Conference on Intracranial Atherosclerosis (ICAS 200) to be held in Seoul, Korea from June 18 to 20, 2008.”

So they emailed me last week too, only I didn’t receive any. I’m just glad I didn’t give up on it. Otherwise, it would have been one of those “things that don’t happen to us, that we’ll never know didn’t happen to us.” (Anita Shreve, “A Wedding in December”)

I’ve still got to raise funds and get a Visa though… But I am at least a step closer to getting there. *keeps fingers crossed* :)

Fresh (re)Start

Filed under: Residency Training — aggiepie @ 6:59 pm

After all the “sturm und drang” of the previous month, I was looking forward to a new one. I thought I’d be off by noon, and I was thinking of having a good massage after. I intended to shop for a new outfit, get a new cut, buy a new bed cover, clean up my closet, to signify a new beginning, a fresh start. I woke up early and started my rounds at 8 am. But it’s already 7 pm and I’ve still got a couple of patients to make rounds on… I’m back as Interdept rotator and having INpatients again and it’s first day funk! Thank God it’s a holiday. Otherwise, I would have had Major OPD in the AM and Neuro Ana lecture in the PM, and only after that can I start making rounds. Now there’s something to keep me busy these days, instead of sleeping and moping around all day.
