Round Table Discussion

Filed under: Residency Training — aggiepie @ 1:32 pm

We are all getting ready for the PNA Accreditation tomorrow and after embarking on the Herculean task of cleaning up the callroom, we all treated ourselves to some happy food. During yesterday’s dinner, the following question popped up: “What is your favorite part of the Neuro exam?”

Survey says…

Jessie: Patellar clonus, because it’s the latest thing he has learned.

Jenny: Palmomental reflex, because the chin-twitch is cute.

Richie: Deep tendon reflexes.

Terci: Can’t break apart the Neuro exam; they’re all equally important. <– corny! XP

Natzi: Fundoscopy.

Cha: Deep tendon reflexes, because she likes the uniqueness of the hammer tool to the Neuro field. (I like the flourish of pulling at the handle of the Babinski hammer! :) )

Roman: Dermatomes, and then some Miss Universe kind of answer…

Aloyloy: HIgher cortical functions. @_@

Ingks: Fundoscopy.

Aileen: (can’t remember her answer)

Me: Cerebellars, especially the tests for nystagmus and dysmetria, because they are the hardest signs to call and very localizable! :)

Happy Duty

Filed under: Residency Training — aggiepie @ 1:12 am

It’s 12:56 am in the morning and the callroom’s still abuzz. I thought it was gonna be a lonesome duty night again (my dutymates are rotators from Internal Medicine and they’ve got their own callroom). But Sir Richie, Sir Angel, Aloyloy and Inks are all (still) here, preparing for tomorrow Mortality Conference. Earlier in the evening, we had dinner at Friday’s–ALL 13 of us! :)
